Mondulkiri Red Peppercorns - Cambodia
Mondulkiri Red Peppercorns - Cambodia
Organic and Fair Trade Mondulkiri Red Peppercorns are grown using sustainable practices and cultivated by local communities. Unlike black peppercorns, these are left on the vine to fully ripen, turning a beautiful red-mahogany before hand-harvesting. They are then carefully cleaned and sun-dried.
The aroma is smooth with reminiscent of cocoa and vanilla. The taste is less spicy than black pepper with notes of eucalyptus and mint.
Mondulkiri Pepper is from the eastern Cambodian province of the same name. It is a relative newcomer to the spice world and is beginning to make a name for itself alongside the well-know Kampot Peppercorns. Mondulkiri province borders on Vietnam and is known for its lush green forests and beautiful waterfalls.
While we love pepper on just about everything, these red peppercorns are particularly delicious with:
- Poultry
- Seafood
- Cream sauces
- Potato and rice dishes
- Fresh cheeses such as mozzarella, feta, goat, or cream cheese
- Chocolate (especially chocolate truffles), caramel, or vanilla desserts
For best flavor and potency when not using, keep tightly closed in a cool, dark cupboard away from direct heat or sunlight.
