These lovely pink Himalayan Salt Tiles (12" x 8" x 2") are extremely versatile.

The tiles can be used hot or cold, for cooking or serving. They impart a mild salty and mineral flavor, unique to Himalayan salt. 

Fire up the grill or your oven and use the tile as a cooking surface to sear seafood, meats, vegetables, or oil the tile and cook some eggs.

For the oven, heat slowly for about an hour before cooking to prevent cracking. Start at 200 degrees for 20 minutes, then 300 degrees for 20 minutes, and finally on 450 degrees for 20 minutes.

Use the same process for the grill, starting on the cooler side and gradually moving the tile to the hottest part of the grill.

For both methods, sprinkle with a little water (as you would in a skillet) to check if it sizzles. Once it sizzles, you are ready to cook.

Use caution when handling a hot salt block, as it can reach extremely high temperatures and retain its heat for hours. We recommend when cooking in the oven to put the tile on a firm baking sheet with sides or a shallow roasting pan for ease in removing from the oven. Let the tile cool to room temperature in the turned-off oven before handling. For the grill, let the tile cool to room temperature on the grill once you have turned if off. Use high heat-resistant gloves if you want to move the tile before it has reached room temperature.

To use cold as a serving dish for foods like fruit, salad, crudite, sushi, fresh cheese, ice cream, sorbet, or unsalted butter, chill the tile in the freezer for an hour before using. 

Each pink tile is unique in color and they all have slight variations of light pink, pink, and dark pink.

For decorative use, these salt tiles look lovely propped in a window. Place the tile on a plate or other protective layer as in humid weather it may release moisture. Salt is said to bring good luck to homes, making these exquisite Himalayan tiles the perfect housewarming or host gift.

Cracks may appear on the tile with use. This is a normal part of the aging process for salt tiles and it can still be used.

CARE AND CLEANING

  • After each use in the oven or on the grill, cool the tile to room temperature as described above.
  • Simply wash the cooled tile with cool water and a soft brush. This removes a thin layer of salt from the tile. Pat dry with a paper towel and place on a rack to dry completely.
  • No detergent is necessary as the salt has inherent anti-microbial properties—making your tile safe to use for years!
  • Handle your tile with care, as it will break if dropped.
